Within a span of just a few minutes three of our resident birds, including two raptors, gave this recently arrived female Merlin a very hard time so I figured she deserved a more welcoming greeting from another Utah resident. That would be me in today’s post.
Usually when birds are involved I’m fascinated by minutia but sometimes the ‘little things’ can drive me nuts, especially when they’re photography related..
I got this harrier series two days ago on the same morning I photographed the American Kestrel vs. Merlin fight. I also photographed two other kestrels and a Red-tailed Hawk that morning so it was a good day for raptor photography.
There’s just something about direct eye contact from the largest and most powerful hawk in North America. Ferruginous Hawks are thought of as wannabe Golden Eagles for very good reason.
