Burrowing Owls are “supposed” to migrate out of Utah during winter but yesterday I photographed one up close on Antelope Island that apparently didn’t read the book.
I have more difficulty approaching Prairie Falcons than I do most other raptor species so when I can get close to one it’s always a memorable experience.
Male Loggerhead Shrikes feed their mates beginning with the formation of pair bonds in early spring and such behavior continues throughout the incubation and nestling periods.
It’s been a tough summer for me with Burrowing Owls. Normally I spend a lot of time photographing them but this year they’ve been mostly uncooperative to the extreme – too skittish, too far away, too buried in vegetation and too scarce.
But I had a pleasant surprise two days ago on Antelope Island.
