The numerous catbirds at this location in the mountains have been nearly impossible for me to photograph but three days ago this one let its guard down momentarily and gave me an almost literal ‘window’ of opportunity.
I rarely see Great Horned Owls in wetland habitats so finding this bird was a real treat.
Chicks this age always give me hope for the future. I guess I needed some reassurance after worrying about the late breeding pair of Western Grebes I photographed a few days ago.
