A couple of weeks ago I documented a Belted Kingfisher being repeatedly attacked by a Barn Swallow. Yesterday morning it happened again but this time I managed to get the attacking swallow in several of the photos.
Yet another bird that takes advantage of the Great Salt Lake’s brine flies and brine shrimp as a food source and they do so in huge numbers.
It isn’t easy to watch as parasitic fledgling cowbirds run their adopted Song Sparrow parents ragged as they relentlessly follow the sparrows around and beg for food.
Unlike some humans who have used that phrase this very young hawk actually got the job done.

Lately I’ve been on a roll when it comes to photos of birds being attacked by other birds. Yesterday morning in the mountains the victim was once again a kingfisher but this time the image quality is very good.
Three days ago a long birding trip resulted in only mediocre photos. But I discovered that there are are worse outcomes than being bird-skunked.
