Yellow Warbler – A Compositional Conundrum

Despite the unconventional pose I love the intimacy of this image.

Landing must be one of the more difficult skills very young raptors need to learn because they spend considerable time practicing it.

This is a pose I seldom post on my blog or even like very much but somehow it works for me with this young Prairie Falcon.

I found this bird interesting for two reasons.

Part 2 focuses on what I call the “pipe dance” of this young hawk.

This quite young and still clumsy youngster almost seemed to enjoy showing off for me.

These photos aren’t high quality but I got a big kick out of them anyway.

It isn’t easy to get two birds sharp at these focal lengths and when one of them is in flight the degree of difficulty increases exponentially.

This little guy didn’t know which direction his (or her) next meal was going to be coming from.

I remember when I finally realized that I’d never seen a Killdeer perched and eventually figured out why.
