He only ate part of\u00a0the vole\u00a0before eventually flying off and most likely caching the remains in a &#8220;secret&#8221; location. All in all I\u00a0took many photos of\u00a0him on three different perches (some with the vole, others without)\u00a0and he was calm and\u00a0accepting of my presence for the entire\u00a0time which is quite unusual for a kestrel. Eventually he grasped the vole in his left foot, looked around some more, and than started to take off with it.<\/p>\n<p>But before he actually\u00a0lifted off he changed his mind and settled back down on his perch again.
