This time of year they have to survive mostly on voles and small birds that are almost as big as they are so these few\u00a0hardy winter residents must be excellent and even ferocious\u00a0hunters. This bird actually caught a vole while we were there but\u00a0I didn&#8217;t get\u00a0any photos of it. Though the image isn&#8217;t particularly sharp I found it interesting for a couple of reasons.
