Meadowlarks can be relatively easy to approach during their breeding season as they sing from territory but during winter their singing wanes and they’re much more difficult to get close to. So I was doubly fortunate to find this cooperative bird singing from its rabbitbrush perch. The clip is 22 seconds long.

I hope to improve my video skills (both in the field and in processing) in the near future so hopefully any clips I may post down the road will be a little more polished.

Ron

Western Meadowlarks are non-territorial during winter but they still sing their melodious song with enthusiasm.

Continue reading

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[3,334,370
30,31,2731,255,1724,284,669,2732,323
post-35219","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-antelope-island","category-birds","category-western-meadowlarks","tag-antelope","tag-antelope-island-2","tag-camcorder","tag-preening","tag-seeds","tag-singing","tag-sturnella-neglecta","tag-video-clip","tag-western-meadowlark

https://featheredphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/western-meadowlark-3746-ron-dudley.jpg
["GET
