Occasionally soaring raptors fly in quite\u00a0close to\u00a0observers and I’m\u00a0convinced that sometimes it’s simply a matter of curiosity.<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what this light morph adult Swainson’s Hawk did with me a month ago in Montana’s Centennial Valley.\u00a0 The sun was higher than I prefer (almost 10 am) so I didn’t get the right wing lit up (I don’t mind the shaded wing anyway)\u00a0but I thought the rest of the bird looked good and I love the eye contact.\u00a0 The intense blue sky may not appeal to everyone but this was taken in the wilds of “Big Sky Country” and that sky is often this blue.<\/p>\n
