Later this morning we leave\u00a0on another one of our patented camping\/photo\u00a0sojourns to Montana.\u00a0 We’ve put this\u00a0trip\u00a0off at the\u00a0last-minute three times in the last ten days\u00a0due to changing\u00a0weather forecasts but right now it’s looking good and we’re a go.<\/p>\n

This is one of our primary target species, the magnificent Ferruginous Hawk.<\/p>\n

This dark morph Ferrug decided to cuss me out as it took off from a pole and I liked the shot that resulted.\u00a0 I usually\u00a0have more chances with the species in Montana than I do in Utah even though both of these shots were taken in Utah.\u00a0 I know of several nests in southwest Montana that have been used for years\u00a0and I look forward to (hopefully) seeing some fledglings on this trip.<\/p>\n

This was taken almost exactly a\u00a0year ago\u00a0from our usual camping spot in the Centennial Valley.\u00a0 We were about to leave camp just before sunrise to look for birds.<\/p>\n

I can’t get enough of this place.\u00a0 Wish us luck.\u00a0 And light.\u00a0 And birds.<\/p>\n
