It’s only January 1 and I’m already becoming weary of snow, cold, bleak landscapes and the dirty air of winter inversions.\u00a0 So I choose to welcome\u00a0the New Year with a touch of Spring – Ferruginous Hawk chicks on the nest.<\/p>\n

I photographed these youngsters in early June this past year and I thought their apparent na\u00efve optimism of youth and confident look were appropriate to ring in the New Year (besides, I needed<\/em> a visual jolt of Spring).<\/p>\n

May all of my readers have a happy, healthy and harmonious 2014!\u00a0 I hope\u00a0it’s filled with the joy of birds and the natural world.\u00a0 Happy New Year!<\/p>\n
