\u00a01\/3200\/ f\/6.3,\u00a0ISO 500, 500 f\/4, natural light<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nThis magpie and its mate\u00a0were in the process of nest-building on Antelope Island this past March.\u00a0 I caught the bird with nesting material in its beak just after liftoff.\u00a0 Given the long tail, the twig extending far\u00a0forward and the raised left wing I was lucky to not clip anything.<\/p>\n
To get this much\u00a0iridescence was icing on the cake.<\/p>\n

Flight shots are inherently more difficult than static shots but ironically I find it easier to get the iridescence to show in flight than I do when they’re perched.<\/p>\n
