{"id":154599,"date":"2024-02-27T06:01:45","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T13:01:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.featheredphotography.com\/blog\/?p=154599"},"modified":"2024-02-27T07:12:59","modified_gmt":"2024-02-27T14:12:59","slug":"song-sparrow-a-persistent-singer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.featheredphotography.com\/blog\/2024\/02\/27\/song-sparrow-a-persistent-singer\/","title":{"rendered":"Song Sparrow – A Persistent Singer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Song Sparrows are born (hatched) to sing, as suggested by their scientific name, <em>Melospiza melodia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Four days ago I had just left Antelope Island and headed for home when I heard a Song Sparrow singing in the vegetation along the causeway just east of the marina. As I approached the source of the calling I spotted the sparrow at the top of a sagebrush but just before I got my pickup stopped another vehicle whizzed by and spooked the sparrow. During the night we got nearly 4″ of snow and we’re supposed to get more later today. Looks like I’m stuck at home for yet another day.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well, more water for the lake. The mountains are getting hammered with snow and the Jordan River, which runs from Utah Lake to the south to Great Salt lake, is running higher and faster than I’ve ever seen it.
