The beginning of a trend?<\/p>\n

Yesterday morning I spotted two Burrowing Owls cavorting in the air several hundred yards away and in an area where I couldn’t approach them any closer. So I decided to just sit there and watch them. Cavorting Burrowing Owls are great fun to watch, even from a distance.<\/p>\n

Suddenly they both flew in my direction and landed pretty close in front of me and next to a fence on my left. I got several shots of this one before it took off. I also got two takeoff shots but both were a little too soft. One of them had potential so I was quite disappointed.<\/p>\n

You may have noticed that this owl is banded. I prefer my birds to not be wearing jewelry but it is what it is.<\/p>\n

The photo is unremarkable, other than documenting the first time I’ve been able to get some half-way decent shots of a Burrowing Owl in several years. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a trend.<\/p>\n

Addendum: As an afterthought I decided to include the soft takeoff shot. It probably isn’t fair to my readers to mention a photo that “had potential” without including it.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
