I don’t have many opportunities to photograph Merlins so ten days ago at Bear River MBR I snapped off a few shots of this one at Bear River MBR even though ‘he’ was far away. I was hoping he would lift off so he would fill just a little more of the frame and provide me with a more dynamic photo but he seemed content where he was. I still like the shot for its peaceful ambience, warm morning light, layered background and mostly natural setting. Aficionados of the refuge will likely recognize the weathered old post as a favorite raptor perch, Bald Eagles in particular.<\/p>\n

My daughter Shannon arrived last night for a brief visit so this post is a short one. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her and our visits have been far too few since her accident six years ago so I have other priorities right now.<\/p>\n

Not many things take priority over my blog posts but Shannon is one of them.<\/p>\n
