Recently I reported the possible untimely demise of two Red-tailed Hawk fledglings from what I called “nest B”. Yesterday I discovered that both siblings are doing just fine.
Lately I’ve been on a roll when it comes to photos of birds being attacked by other birds. Yesterday morning in the mountains the victim was once again a kingfisher but this time the image quality is very good.
To me this (second photo) almost looks like two birds, one on top of the other. In fact there’s very little ‘almost’ about it – that’s what I see. But it’s a single Song Sparrow.
Yesterday morning I managed to get several shots I like of this “shy skulker”. They aren’t perfect but given my dismal track record with the species I was delighted to get them.
Two days ago I spent 75 minutes near a small, isolated tree in a remote area of northern Utah trying to photograph male Lazuli Buntings at war with each other.
