I seldom get an opportunity to photograph a grebe of any species on a nest so I’ll take the shot even if the bird has its back to me. At least this Western Grebe gave me a partial head turn in compensation.
A week ago today I witnessed two unfortunate events on Antelope Island and the causeway leading to it. Each was caused by poor decisions by humans and each had potential or real negative effects on wildlife.
This Long-billed Curlew made several transitions as it came in to land – from poor light to good light, from a mostly featureless background to an interesting one and it touched down in a field of flowers. This 7 image sequence was photographed two days ago on Antelope Island.
