I rarely photograph raptors on utility poles anymore but I’ll always make an exception for Prairie Falcons. Especially when they allow me to observe some of their behaviors up close. (7 photos)
I’ve mentioned before that larger buteos often signal imminent takeoff with one or more of four behaviors. This bird gave me three of the four so I’d have had to be asleep to have missed the takeoff. (5 photos)
Five days ago I spent about 40 minutes with a male Belted Kingfisher who even cooperated occasionally. These are some of the events I photographed that morning.
