My photos in the cold yesterday morning were actually sharp! Thanks to a friend I may (or may not) have arrived at a partial solution to my problem with soft photos while shooting from my pickup in unusually cold temperatures.
Asymmetry in my images appeals to me, particularly with birds in flight. Yesterday I got two successive photos like that of a Northern Harrier as it quickly changed direction.
Plus my take on the merits of digital frames around our images.
The incredibly athletic twisting dives of Northern Harriers on prey are always impressive to witness (and difficult to photograph well) but when it’s an adult male, a “Gray Ghost”, for me at least it’s extra special.
And in this context I do mean stomping. First a brief explanation of the behavior, one I’ve seen multiple times with this species but have only rarely been able to photograph.
I know I’ve posted a lot of harrier photos over the years but I do love them, as evidenced by the vanity plate on my pickup and the graphic at the top of my blog.
Please do not pin my images on Pinterest, Tumblr or any other pinning site or social media or use them for anything else without my express permission (and that includes using them as models for paintings, drawings or tattoos etc.).
