While watching the sexual and pugnacious antics of these sandpipers I described the situation as a “sex circus” to my shooting companion. Not far from the truth if you ask me.
It isn’t easy to watch as parasitic fledgling cowbirds run their adopted Song Sparrow parents ragged as they relentlessly follow the sparrows around and beg for food.
Yesterday I documented the prenuptial flight of the male Red-tailed Hawk that I photographed two days ago in northern Utah. Today that story is continued with their mating.
