Curlew Poop-stretch
I like the dichotomy of a beautiful bird perched on what some would think of as “unattractive” bison poop.
Gray Partridge – Adult and Young Juvenile
It’s the time of year when I begin daydreaming about trips to Montana and many of the birds I photograph in that state, Gray Partridges among them.
Long-billed Curlew – Just Because I Like It
Occasionally an image resonates with me because of some quirky feature or visual highlight even though I’m keenly aware that it isn’t one of my better shots overall. This photo is one of those.
Western Grebe Behavior – An Unusual Variation On A Theme
I’m always intrigued by bird behaviors, especially when it’s something new that I can’t explain or find in the literature.

Perhaps A Classic Representation Of Sage Grouse On A Lek
For many viewers certain visual elements come to mind when they think of Sage Grouse on a lek. For me this image has most, if not all of them.
Bison At The Scratchin’ Post (and a recycling lesson from critters)
Sage Thrashers – Courtship Display And Prey For Their Youngsters
Sage Thrasher spring activities have been ramping up for weeks and I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a variety of them.
Spotted Towhee – A Nemesis No Longer
I’ve had occasional distant and cluttered glimpses of Spotted Towhees over the years but quality photographs of them have always eluded me. Until yesterday.
Marbled Godwit On Antelope Island
Until yesterday I’d never seen a Marbled Godwit on Antelope Island so it was great fun to photograph this bird up close.
