Yesterday I Had A Two Merlin Morning At Bear River MBR

On average I photograph Merlins less often than once per year so to get two of them in my viewfinder on the same morning was a momentous occasion.

Shrikes have been an elusive subject for me for some time now so getting this mated pair in the frame together was a real treat.

Some events are life changers and I’m not talking about my back surgery.

I got many photos I like of this bird but I screwed up on the only one that could have been spectacular.

Plus a rogue airplane flying much too low over Antelope Island yesterday morning.

I’d much rather find the kinks on a short trip close to home than on one of my much longer trips to MT, ID or WY!

Here’s a view of a juvenile Golden Eagle not everyone gets to see and appreciate.

This will be the shakedown cruise.

When it comes to gathering nesting material this male Red-tailed Hawk might be the hardest working raptor I’ve ever photographed.

Some have fur and some have scales but there isn’t a feather to be found in this collection. All photos were taken three days ago.
