Live and learn is what they say but on this occasion a brain fart led to my downfall. I should have known better.

The things some of us will do for a snack.

Or maybe I should say… butterbilled.

Maybe, just maybe, foxes can’t really smile but they sure as hell can jump. Yesterday in the mountains this one proved it.

A handsome rapor in habitat.

This first photo is about as close to a “perfect” shot as I ever get.

It’s only a working theory but I believe it’s based on fairly strong circumstantial evidence.

Sometimes a dreadfully inadequate photo can be a treasure as inspiration. For me this image fits that description but prepare yourself, it’s a mess.

A double conundrum, actually – composition and ID.

And an interesting goldfinch strategy for combating brood parasitism of the Brown-headed Cowbird.
