What to do when horrid lighting conditions make it next to impossible to photograph birds in flight but Short-eared Owls with prey are flying by close?
It’s been a long time coming this year but today I’m finally getting out of some of this oppressive heat and headed for the faraway mountains of Montana and Idaho.
Many of us despise the disastrous effects of barbed wire fences on birds and other wildlife and I share that view. But maybe it’s a more nuanced issue than some of us believe. Could it be that barbed wire fences have a more positive overall effect on some species than negative?
