A week ago today I witnessed two unfortunate events on Antelope Island and the causeway leading to it. Each was caused by poor decisions by humans and each had potential or real negative effects on wildlife.
This Long-billed Curlew made several transitions as it came in to land – from poor light to good light, from a mostly featureless background to an interesting one and it touched down in a field of flowers. This 7 image sequence was photographed two days ago on Antelope Island.
I’ve said it many times, I’m a bird photographer not a traditional birder. But an incident earlier this year gave me a taste of the excitement birders must feel when they observe a rare species and have that sighting accepted by the birding community.
