Pardon my submarine reference in the title but I’m betting many of my readers are old enough to remember those old WWII movies.
I seldom see Pied-billed Grebes use this unique diving method but it always amuses me when I do. I’ve reported on this behavior before but those were different photos and this is a different grebe.
Plus a lifer for me – a Snowy Plover at Bear River MBR yesterday. And an update on Dr. Talamy’s “What Do Birds Eat?” project.
Western Grebe chicks are both adorable and annoying, probably for their parents and I’m sure for me.
To say I was excited to get this two shot series is an understatement. A later event took the shine off of one of the images for me but at the time I didn’t know what the future would bring.
Soon the Willets on Antelope Island will mostly leave the island proper (if they haven’t already) and move down to the shoreline of the lake where they’re less accessible so for the last several weeks I’ve been striking while the iron is hot and photographing them at every opportunity.
I don’t have a lot of “oomph” in me right now so the bird portion of this post will be brief. I don’t like to inject too much personal stuff into my blog but when it begins to affect Feathered Photography I feel like I should come clean.
