Plus… Is backyard bird feeding comparable to the unethical and often illegal practice of baiting raptors? Yesterday’s post caused at least some confusion on that subject so I’d like to set the record straight.
Yesterday I had a meeting with the new manager of Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge regarding questions and concerns I had about recent management decisions affecting the refuge. Here’s what I found out.
Getting three takeoff shots in a series like this is pretty unusual for me, especially since I didn’t clip any body parts. Yesterday was mostly a good day at Bear River MBR but I saw some very disturbing conditions while I was there.
It isn’t known if this is a novel technique unique to only a few individuals or it’s more widespread among cormorants but just hadn’t been seen or recorded before. Either way, I think it’s fascinating.
