None of these photos is an award-winner but for disparate reasons each one grabs me just a little and I’ll mention why in this post. All of them were taken in the last several weeks.
Occasionally I review my recent images and look for photos that I may have missed that hold some interest for me. This is a collection of eight of those images, taken over the past several weeks.
I literally have such a big head that they had to special-order a cap large enough to fit me when I graduated from high school (true story). But I have nothing on the male Common Goldeneye.
I’ve been yammering for years about the advantages to bird photographers of being familiar with the behaviors of our subjects. Here’s yet another example.
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” With apologies to the Bard I must disagree with Juliet. I think names matter.
It’s my contention that “muscle memory”, fast reflexes and quick thinking are more important in bird photography than they are in most other types of photography.
Occasionally the frozen moments in my photographs allow me to see something that really piques my curiosity. And makes me wonder about the relationships between natural selection, behaviors and structural adaptations.
Please do not pin my images on Pinterest, Tumblr or any other pinning site or social media or use them for anything else without my express permission (and that includes using them as models for paintings, drawings or tattoos etc.).
