Photographs of wildlife in wilderness have special meaning for me. If I’m aware that an image was taken in a truly wild setting it changes the context in a positive way.
I seldom get an opportunity to photograph a grebe of any species on a nest so I’ll take the shot even if the bird has its back to me. At least this Western Grebe gave me a partial head turn in compensation.
I’ve returned home from my Montana/Idaho camping trip and overall the trip was spectacular but the good times were tempered by a nasty surprise on my first day there.
This dark morph Red-tailed Hawk in Montana’s Centennial Valley was the most cooperative raptor of the day yesterday and it truly did have the patience of Job with what must have been a very annoying Black-billed Magpie.
