Northern Harriers often hunt the perimeter of Goose Egg Island (really only a hill and no longer an island) at Farmington Bay MBA, particularly its northern side along the creek.
Golden Eagles are my #1 photographic quarry. I’d rather get a magnificent flight shot of one of these regal birds than any other species I can think of and that includes other raptors like Snowy Owls and Gyrfalcons.
Two subspecies of Wild Turkey are found in Utah, Merriam’s Turkey and the Rio Grande Turkey. They’re very similar in appearance and are best distinguished by their distinctive habitat requirements.
I’ve seen far more American Pipits migrating through northern Utah this fall than I’ve ever seen before. I hope that’s a sign they had a highly successful breeding season up north this past summer.
