Fourteen minutes condensed into eight photos to be precise. These are behavioral images and none of them are great shots but I think most of us here on Feathered Photography appreciate interesting behaviors at least as much as we do “pretty bird photos”.
Amputating body parts in photography is one thing but it’s something else altogether when you do it to yourself. And your guillotine is a very sharp knife instead of a camera.
This is one of two young siblings “walking the pipe” as it tries to develop its coordination. A year ago I posted photos of one of them doing this but all 9 of these images are new to my blog.
Raptors in particular are known for repeatedly using the same perch, sometimes over a period of years. And sometimes they’re used by more than one raptor species so it behooves the bird photographer to check them out regularly. If raptors like’m, I like’m – even when they’re less than photogenic.
To say I was excited to get this two shot series is an understatement. A later event took the shine off of one of the images for me but at the time I didn’t know what the future would bring.
