Bird photographers never know what we’ll see in our photos that we didn’t notice in the field. My shots of this Prairie Falcon taken two days ago surprised me in more ways than one.
Grebes of all species very rarely try to walk or even come out of the water onto a solid surface. Because of their unusual anatomy standing and walking are almost impossible tasks but this one made the attempt anyway. The results were hilarious.
I’ve bitched and moaned for years about how difficult kingfishers are to get close to but yesterday morning this amazingly cooperative female made me feel guilty about badmouthing them for it.
Sometimes I find things that are disturbing when I finally get around to looking more closely at some of my photos. Thankfully it doesn’t happen very often but that doesn’t make it any easier when it occurs.
