I made another rookie mistake, this time with my Thanksgiving turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Feathered Photography-ites out there, wherever you may be. I hope everyone has a memorable, safe day and holiday weekend with family and friends, including but not limited to a delectable and bounteous Thanksgiving dinner.
As for me, due to a rookie mistake I made with my turkey, I’ll probably be having something like pizza for my Thanksgiving repast. I bought a moderately sized frozen turkey breast about nine days before Thanksgiving and within just over 2 days in my 39° fridge it was already completely thawed out.
I didn’t dare wait until Thanksgiving to cook it so I’ve already been eating turkey for two days.
When it comes to poultry safety, I don’t mess around.

Note: In case you’re wondering why the Wild Turkey’s snood in my photo is sticking straight up into the air, it’s because the tom shook his head just before I took the photo.
Happy Thanksgiving, Ron and my fellow FP followers. I had to giggle at the early defrost of your Thanksgiving turkey! Nothing wrong with eating turkey a few days early. I see a yummy turkey sandwich for your Thanksgiving meal or turkey chili in your future!! If you watch football and parades on Thanksgiving then that sandwich is easy and convenient. Have a safe, warm and easy T-day!!
An appropriate photo, and a fine specimen at that.
Happy Thanksgiving professor.
Happy thanksgiving, Ron. It appears you are enjoying a special thanksgiving experience, spread over days. I reckon that’s a blessing 😊
“It appears you are enjoying a special thanksgiving experience, spread over days.”
You’re right about that. I enjoy turkey sandwiches at least as much as the entire turkey spread.
The best-laid plans, and all that. On the other hand, that photo of the turkey is perfect. I didn’t expect an out-loud laugh this morning, but there it was. I hope your day’s a good one. There are a lot of us out here who are thankful for your photography — and your perseverance over the years! Happy Thanksgiving!
Much appreciated, Shoreacres. In the end, my plans weren’t so “best-laid”.
