This Black-necked Stilt at Bear River MBR had just taken off to participate in one of the stilt/avocet confrontations that were occurring regularly because both species had young chicks they felt needed protecting. I got quite a few shots of this bird in flight (you’ve seen one of them before) but some of them were soft. This is one of the two or three I like best, in part because of what I perceive to be a 3D effect.
Today’s post is truncated to some degree because a new ‘gremlin’ popped up last night in my new computer configuration that includes a new monitor. It’s pretty neat to be able to toggle from one computer to the other so easily and quickly but for some reason my newer computer is ‘stretching’ my images when I import them into WordPress. So this post is published from my older computer that I haven’t used in a very long time.
I’m sure we’ll figure it out but in the meantime the process of posting to Feathered Photography is more than a little awkward and time consuming.
Ron
Notes:
- Problem already solved, mostly. We had increased the font size on my newer computer, which also affected the image size when I import them into WordPress. I’ve gone back to the smaller font size which fixed the issue. I’ll just have to resign myself to squinting when I’m reading the text.
- Font size in WordPress only has now been increased slightly. If you notice the difference please let me know what you think, good or bad.
I see what you mean by 3D, I have noticed that on my images only on my computer and thought it was just my big screen. I don’t see it on my phone. Font size is important as we age. I have a big computer screen but my phone is another thing.
Technology is in many ways a bitch! We are all struggling here at my house, with everyone gone to email and website communication and registration for everything. Even Eric was swearing last night at one of the sites for licensing our rentals through the city’s site. I am still trying to get my car repaired from Pepboys mechanic hitting another car with mine. I finally have all my estimates and their site won’t take the large files, We accommodated that, then it said their site was down for maintenance, try later! I am very grateful for Eric’s help.
It’s frustrating, isn’t it, April. And I’m afraid things are only going to get worse.
Love those graceful pink legs. And bigger fonts are always acceptable.
Hiss and spit at ‘puter gremlins.
Thank you, EC.
Sensational shot Ron!
Thanks, Charlotte.
I appreciate the increased font size! At near-70, with bifocals and such, it helps!
At age 76 I definitely get that, Elise. Thanks for the feedback.
Very nice photo and it does have somewhat of a 3D effect. Yes large letters always for guys my age. Have not seen much of the Avocets or Stilts this season. Of course due to the extreme heat many wading and shore birds have left. Can’t blame them.
I don’t blame them either, Everett. If I were in their ‘shoes’, I would too.
Like the larger font size…I increased the font size on my monitor, as AMD is worsening my vision. Glasses help some…
I always enjoy your photos, and your words, along with other’s comments.
Thanks for the kind words, Barbara. And the best of luck with your AMD.
Wow– wouldn’t you think a computer would know the difference
between a font and an image ? So much for “AI”…..I DO like the
larger letters, and love those graceful long legs.
“wouldn’t you think a computer would know the difference
between a font and an image?”
My thoughts exactly, Kris. Thanks for the feedback on the new, larger font.
Wonderful! Beautiful! Thank you again and again!!
Thank you, Mary.
Bird, beautiful. Font size, acceptable. Computer problems… interminable!
Yep, yep ad yep.
Or you could get stronger reading glasses. . .Oh, aging, it’s such a treat!
I really like this handsome bird. There’s an interesting PBS program about the Bald Eagle—–have you seen it?
Sue, I’m already using 2.75’s and 3.00’s when I can find them.
If it’s a new PBS program, probably not. I’ll look for it.
Beautiful photo of a beautiful bird. I’m jealous of you being able to see these birds regularly where you are… I’ve only been able to view them in Florida and they were such an exotic treat for these northeastern eyes!
Thanks, Joanne. Around here we’re pretty spoiled when it comes to stilts.
Great photo. I see what you mean by the 3-D effect.
With computers, its always something. Hope that is the last of the gremlins for you, at least for a while.
I hope so too, Michael. I encounter more than enough gremlins in the field. I don’t need any more lurking around in my computer(s).
