Finally, another up-close and cooperative Yellow Warbler.

It’s been a while since I had any luck with Yellow Warblers but yesterday morning in the Wasatch Mountains this male came out to play for long enough that I got quite a few photos of him. Most of the time he was facing to his left which put those twigs directly behind his bill. But eventually he turned to his right and I like that better.
While he was on this perch he made a few half-hearted attempts at singing but he clearly wasn’t into it. I have a theory as to why.

His perch wasn’t high enough and conspicuous enough to make his performance the center of attention so he jumped (he didn’t fly, he just jumped) up to the highest perch available.

From there he sang his little heart out.
Up until I found this guy I’d been bird-skunked so he made my morning.

On the other side of the world with some hours to go until dawn he has me smiling.. Broadly. Thank you.
Good. Thanks, EC.
The Warbler saved you from being skunked or as we say in baseball – shut out. As I scrolled down the page that first photo just leaped out at me. What great color. These guys are among my very favorites. Excellent photography of a very pretty bird.
Thanks very much, Everett.
Very pretty splash of summer color! I was thinking of going there today. I have not been to the area since my car failed about a third of the way in. It has been so beautiful even if skunked.
There was a fair number of birds up there yesterday, April. But the old reliable spots were less productive than usual.
Congrats on getting another warbler in your lens. Really like that ‘jump shot’.
Thanks, Michael. I almost didn’t include that shot with his head turned away.
LUV the Yellow Warblers tho often hard to spot and don’t stay put long as you noted…..their song is delightful……:)
Judy, thankfully this one stayed put longer than most.
Thanks, Ron. So much good cheer in a tiny bundle of yellow feathers. Best wishes. Kate
Thank you, Kate.
Delightful photos! They sure brighten up my morning too!!
Good. Thanks, Joanne.
Wow! What a great way to start a summer day. I feel like I was actually there looking at these photos.
Take Care,
Kaye
Thanks, Kaye.
A lovely way to bring SunShine into the start of my day.

Thank you, CJ.
