Sometimes a guy (or gal) just isn’t in the mood for cuddlin’.

It was a slow morning in the mountains yesterday for birds but chipmunks provided some comedic relief. These two were hanging out together in some dead branches when…

one of them draped its long tail over the top of its buddy’s head. The recipient of the gesture didn’t seem to mind at first but…

when that very long tail wrapped almost completely around its chest his little buddy apparently didn’t appreciate the embrace. Based on his facial expression I almost expected him to say “Eeuw!” in disgust.
The tail embrace didn’t last long but it was long enough to briefly take my mind off of the lack of birds. And make me smile.
Ron
Ron, very cute posting and nice for a laugh. Thank you
Thanks, Alice.
What fun, and a welcome distraction from a bird free morning.
YET another beastie we don’t have. Pout, pout.
Thanks, EC. Some would prefer not to have them. Apparently they can be destructive at times.
Iβm surprised to see them so close to each other. The chipmunks and squirrels here seem they would rather chase each other and squabble rather than eat. That and they ate almost all the corn in my garden. If they werenβt so cute Iβd be having squirrel stew.
Corn in the garden is a lot of work for relatively little return so I don’t blame you, Lyle. For that reason I don’t plant it any more.
That is so funny. I bet they were entertaining.
They sure were, Jean.
So cute π. Thanks for sharing your smiles. I like watching chipmunks interacting too, and I got to do that on a forest hike a week ago! Good fun!
Thank you, Myriam.
It made me smile too, Ron. Thanks!
Good. Thanks, Ed.
Cute post
Thanks, Linda.
I wonder if this is the chipmunk equivalent of Slug Bug or I’m Not Touching You. π
And yes, I now have Chip & Dale’s theme song as my daily earworm. Thanks.
And because I hate to earworm alone…
Well, thanks for that, Marty! Now I’ll have to listen to some Eagles or Dire Straits on my way to do a chore so I can replace the ear worm.
Any time, Ron. Any time. π
we have lots of chipmunks in NC where I live… love to watch them.
π
That tail-teaser looks like he’s trying hard to appear innocent while really concentrating on placing his tail in the most annoying ways possible, while the abused looks to be the very picture of indignation and irritation in the last shot.
Thanks for the chuckle.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dave. Thanks.
Ron, you’re making lemonade out of lemons–and very good lemonade at that!
I had no choice, Nancy!
Chip/Dale sure doesn’t seem to appreciate the tail wrap! π See he/she has hold of that tail with it’s left front paw and upper chipmunk’s facial expression has changed slightly……;) Inch of much needed rain yesterday – YES except for a graveside service……..
Sounds like your rain might have waited until harvest was done in your area. Our family farm is usually several weeks later than you are and I know they’re still harvesting in the CB area.
Some pretty late this year – just finishing up this week with Winter & Spring, I believe, some Canola left that they’re trying in this area. Don’t know about the Barley. Things a bit late this year…….
I’ve got those little critters living under my driveway! Not sure what I’m going to do with them yet, but killing them is out of the question unless the hawks have a say in that. Darn they’re cute little boogers and have given me my share of comedic relief!! Comedic relief is oftentimes a good thing that’s regularly needed in these times π
Thanks for this morning’s giggle. Zoe (JR TERRORIST) says I have to be up way too early. And darn if I didn’t just adopt another JR TERRORIST! Let the games begin!
Good luck with your chippie dilemma, Laura!
LOL, The lower one looks like one of my cats when the other one does that exact same move with the tail. It is an invitation to be bitten! π They are cute little guys. And now, I’ve got “I’m Chip! He’s Dale!” stuck in my head. Good morning from New Mexico where we are FINALLY cooling off a bit.
Ha, Chip and Dale – I’d forgotten about them. I used to enjoy them as a kid.
Cooling off here too, Arwen. I actually turned the heater on in my pickup early yesterday morning on my way to this location.
‘Eeuw’ is right! Nice catches. π They can be fun to watch and can do their share of damage as well. I have a few as part of the critter crew that frequent the bird feeders.; they are always being chased off by our resident little red squirrel. Comic relief it is.
Thanks, Kathy. I know that a lot of folks don’t appreciate squirrels and such in their yards but I wish I had some, if for nothing more than the entertainment.
