I see a fair number of coyotes in my travels but it’s fairly unusual for me to get one relatively unobstructed and up close – much less in good light. Less than two weeks ago this one cooperated in all three arenas.

And I just love it when they “smile” at me.

You made me see the beauty in this amazing animal.
Thanks Lily. Yes, they can be beautiful – or at least quite handsome.
I agree with Charlotte. The best coyote portrait I have ever come across. Great shot, Ron.
Thanks very much Bob.
You can see everything in his face: strength, cunning, beauty and of course the simple joy of being a coyote. Once again, thank you for this telling and wonderful image.
I agree Tana – the face is very expressive. And I love the tongue out like it is.
The best portrait of a coyote I have EVER seen! The colors and the light are just magnificant and a complement to this beautiful animal. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Charlotte.
Anthromorphism be damned. They do smile. Thanks Ron – the more I learn about coyotes the more I admire their adaptability.
Elephant’s Child, when I was teaching I always tried to avoid anthropomorphism but I’ve loosened up a little since I retired…
Such a gorgeous capture… Love these clever critters.
Thanks Christina. “Clever” is right, they’ve out-foxed (out-coyoted) me more than once.
